Very sad to hear of the passing of my friend and mentor Andrew Downes. Andrew recognised and nurtured the composer in me. He gave me a place on the composition course at the Birmingham School of Music (now Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, UK) and I will be ever grateful for that opportunity. RIP Andrew and thank you for your music, kindness, sense of humour and inspiration.

An Awkward Dance No.1 for piano solo has just been awarded First Prize in the TAVAC Composition Competition 2022

An Awkward Dance No.1 is a fun piece for piano solo. It is so titled because the time signature changes would make it 'awkward' to dance to ‐ though this should not dissuade anyone from doing so.
