For many years now I have wanted to compose a large scale work for choir and orchestra. And to this end I have been collecting many inspiring poems and writings. Finally its is done!
Ecce Homo is a Cantata for lyrical baritone soloist, SATB Chorus and full orchestra. The catalyst for the work has been the many heinous acts committed in the world of today. But the work is not a pessimistic one. Music brings people together and uplifts the soul. So the overall effect of the thirty three minute work will, I believe, be both cathartic and ultimately peaceful. The texts cover a wide range from The Dead Sea Scrolls to Roger McGough's wonderful 'A Square Dance'. The eight movements are:- I - Foreboding (Dead Sea Scrolls) II - Global Warning (CF Meyer) III - Omens (Gaelic) IV - Praise (10th Century Latin) V - Death (McGough) VI - Challenge (John Drinkwater) VII - U.S. (Robert Nichols) VIII - Paean to Peace (Avner Perez) Duration 33 mins Comments are closed.
